This 15 home project went on the market at the bottom of the worst real estate cycle in history (03/09) and sold out in one month! The homes are an array of 5 different floor plans ranging from 1310 sq. ft. to 1600 sq. ft. The homes achieved LEED Platinum and Gold ratings for sustainability, the least expensive homes in Los Angeles to do so. →Slow Home Award Video

In February Rock Row received the Slow Home Award for "Best Townhouse Design" in Los Angeles out of 150 entrants. Slow Home is a movement founded by John Brown and Matthew North of Calgary Canada advocating for better designed houses. They visited Rock Row and put together a wonderful video of the project:

According to their website:

We finally received the LEED certifications for the project. Officially Making Rock Row the greenest single family development in LA!
→Final Steps

One of the final steps was to get the roof garden dirt onto the roofs of phase II. The green roofs use expanded shale as 1/3 of the soil to keep it lightweight. It is shipped as part of a larger order from Colorado and we had all kinds of delivery problems.
→Phase 2 Update

Its been a few months since the last update so here's what's been going on:
+ Phase 1: The first eight homes were occupied in September.
+ Since then Phase 2 has been underway and going much much faster than Phase 1. Since it is exactly the same the blog died rather than becoming a deja vu story.
+ The last entry from before was the driveway pour. Here we are again pouring the final part of the driveway today:
(The last three homes on both sides of the driveway are new)
+ Three of the seven homes that comprise Phase 2 will be occupied next week and the remaining four not long after that.
