Formwork
by Kevin 04/21/10category: DICK + JANE
The garage formwork is going up quickly.
Once the footings are poured the outside wall of the formwork is constructed on top. The formwork gets build one wall at a time so it can be braced and straightened. Once it is correct then the rebar is tied and then the interior wall is tied to the exterior wall. The interior wall is very fast to construct since it is based on the exterior wall.

The shoring at the front of the picture is to form the garage door opening. After this garage is formed and poured the forms will be stripped and reused on the adjacent garage.

Footings Poured
by Kevin 04/08/10category: DICK + JANE
Its permanent now. Thousands of pounds of concrete were poured today. Warren, the pump truck operator, is the same guy that pumped the footings on Patton 7 years ago. Since then he donated his kidney to his sister when she caught some rare virus.

Garbage
by Kevin 04/07/10category: NEWS/EVENTS
We're getting the garbage bins delivered to Rock Row tomorrow and the sales rep. from the garbage company had all kinds of interesting tidbits of information. Here are the two most interesting ones:
1. In a few months they are going to be done constructing their new sorting facility. Once complete, they are stopping their recycling service because it is more efficient for them to sort it themselves from the garbage than to have homeowners try to separate it. It will recycle over 80% of the garbage that comes into it.
2. He said about a third of the recycled material from their facilities gets shipped overseas then shipped back to us.
